BW VINO RAMATO 2023
Tasting Notes
The word Ramato means ‘copper’ in Italian. Named Vino Ramato because the wine develops an orange copper hue from Pinot Grigio grapes being vinified like a red wine. The grapes are crushed and fermented on the skins for 13 days to develop the color and unique texture. The wine was fermented in neutral barrels, then aged “sur lie” for 9 months in those barrels. This barrel aging and a partial malolactic fermentation both add richness and complexity to this unique wine. Aromas of dried fruit, apricot, and orange peel fill the nose. On the palate the wine has a mouthwatering acidity and slight tannins to give it a lengthy finish.
